Forty Under 40 Awards Celebrates its 25th year

Ottawa (Jan. 18, 2022): Nominations are open to determine the 25th group of Forty Under 40 recipients.

Local business leaders who demonstrate remarkable business accomplishments, expertise and community involvement are welcome to apply at www.fortyunder40.ca. Nominations can be submitted until late March. Recipients will be named in April and celebrated at the 25th celebration in June.

The awards are organized by the Ottawa Business Journal and Ottawa Board of Trade in partnership with longtime partner, the University of Ottawa Telfer School of Management Executive MBA.

“We’ve reached an incredible milestone with Forty Under 40,” says Ottawa Business Journal publisher Michael Curran. “To think that in 2022 we will name the 1,000th recipient is really special for us. More importantly, it directly speaks to the level of entrepreneurship and innovation in our region.”

Sueling Ching, President and CEO of the Ottawa Board of Trade, says the awards program is unique because it helps identify next generation leaders across all sectors of the local economy “The level of diversity that we see in recipients is really key to Forty Under 40,” says Ching.

In order to be eligible, nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 39 years or younger on June 30, 2021;
  • Spend the majority of their work time in Ottawa-Gatineau;
  • Be an owner, executive, manager, professional or person with significant business decision-making authority.

Preference is given to nominees who work in the private sector; however, nominees can also work for a public or non-profit organization. In all cases, nominees will be assessed on business-related achievements that advance the goals and objectives of their organization.
