Ottawa has the potential to be a national leader in innovation, defence, and inclusive economic growth. Its thriving technology ecosystem, strategic proximity to federal institutions, and highly educated workforce create a powerful foundation for attracting significant talent and investment.  

Ottawa's ability to fully capitalize on this potential is increasingly constrained by outdated and insufficient infrastructure. Employers urgently need access to a skilled workforce, and these workers, in turn, require affordable and diverse housing options, efficient and reliable public transit systems, and resilient community infrastructure to thrive and contribute fully.  

Strategic and forward-thinking investment in housing, transportation networks, and post-secondary education is essential to ensure the city can effectively cultivate, retain and attract the highly skilled talent crucial to our workforce and productivity. 

Currently, Ottawa is significantly behind its provincial target of 151,000 new homes over the next decade, highlighting the urgency of addressing housing supply constraints (Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force, 2022). 

Ottawa must act decisively to build the robust physical foundation that enables growth and propels prosperity.
