Dear OBOT members,
As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your continued support of the Ottawa Board of Trade and for ensuring that our city has a strong, united voice of business.
For more than 168 years, our Board of Trade has brought business and community leaders together to shape our city’s future, strengthen our economy, and champion Ottawa as a great place to live, work, and invest. That legacy of collaboration and determination continues today as we navigate one of the most transformational times in our region and our country.
This is a moment to take pride in who we are and what we’re building together. Ottawa is home to extraordinary assets; a resilient business community, world-class talent, a growing innovation economy, and unparalleled quality of life. As members, you play a vital role in promoting these strengths and ensuring that our city’s potential is recognized on the world stage.
At the Ottawa Board of Trade, our mission is clear: to support businesses as they start, scale, and soar. We do this by fostering a competitive and productive business environment by shaping policy and planning recommendations at every level of government, and by working with economic partners to drive key initiatives that guide our shared prosperity.
Over the summer, our work has focused on advancing Ottawa’s priorities in economic diversification, defence and procurement, downtown revitalization, and the energy sector’s transition, which are all critical pillars for a stronger future economy. We’ve also expanded our advocacy and engagement platforms to ensure your voice is heard and your business is supported.
As we look ahead, I encourage you to make the most of your membership:
The more you participate and promote the Board of Trade, the stronger our collective impact becomes. Together, we can expand business success, strengthen our networks, and create new opportunities for all who call Ottawa home.
This Thanksgiving, let’s celebrate not only our abundance but also our ability to give back by supporting one another, sharing knowledge, and building a vibrant, inclusive, and future-ready city.
With gratitude and optimism,
Sueling
