Announcement: New Manager of Business Development

The Ottawa Board of Trade (OBOT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christian Robillard as Manager of Business Development. 

 

Christian brings a lifelong commitment to community impact and an impressive track record in fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and strategic partnerships. Christian has been embedded in the charitable sector since he was 10 years old.  From attending summer camp at BGC Ottawa to leading major fundraisers for organizations such as Carleton University, The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, and the CHEO Foundation – Christian has built his career around strengthening organizations and the communities they serve. 

Professionally, he has held progressively senior roles in fundraising, communications, and stakeholder engagement with Carleton University, Youth Ottawa, The Sponsorship Collective, Farm Radio International, and Future of Good. In addition, he is the founder of Purpose Podcasting, an agency dedicated to helping nonprofits and charities leverage audio storytelling to create meaningful impact. 

At OBOT, Christian will lead efforts to grow membership, sponsorship, and partnership programs. He will focus on building strong business connections, and developing strategic partnerships that support a thriving business community across Ottawa. His work will play a key role in advancing Ottawa’s economic success and fostering a prosperous city for all. 

Christian holds a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management (Specialization in Social Policy) and a Master’s in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership from Carleton University. 

His contributions to the community have earned numerous recognitions, including the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, the OC150 Award, the Barbara McInnes Junior Superhero of the Year Award, Carleton University’s Board of Governors’ Award for Community Leadership, and recognition as a TD Fellow with the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education. He is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, a TEDx speaker on the Future of Charity, and was recently named one of The Peak’s Emerging Leaders for 2025 in Social Impact. 

Christian continues to serve the community as a volunteer member of the Ottawa Community Foundation’s Community Grants Committee and the Corporate Oversight Committee of United Way East Ontario. 

We are confident that Christian’s expertise, drive, and passion for building relationships will further strengthen the Ottawa Board of Trade’s role as the voice of business in the National Capital Region. Please join us in welcoming Christian to the OBOT team.
